The Listening Body Counseling Services
It’s time to put your burdens down.
Have you been feeling lost, uncertain, or stuck? Maybe the stressors in your life have been piling up and your old ways of coping are no longer working, causing you to feel anxious or depressed. Would you describe yourself as someone who has achieved a lot of success, yet find yourself feeling unfulfilled and dissatisfied? Or perhaps you’re someone who’s often had to put your inner struggles—or troubles from the past—on the back burner in order to focus on your goals and responsibilities.
These feelings are quite common and can occur due to any number of reasons, such as major life changes, emotional stress you don’t know how to address, or unresolved problems from your past. But you don’t have to try and deal with these experiences alone. At The Listening Body Counseling Services, I can help you make sense of what’s been holding you back and support you in finding a way forward.
As a body-oriented psychotherapist, I have found that much of the dissatisfaction people experience stems from a lack of connection with their body. Often the symptoms people report are physical signals coming directly from the body that have origins in an emotional area of your life. These symptoms include:
Discomfort (such as recurring headaches, tightness in the jaw or chest, back pain, and stomach aches)
Feeling agitated or on edge all the time
Feeling lethargic and heavy.
Utilizing somatic therapy, I support individuals in learning to read and understand the messages your body is sending in order to make links to the emotional problems you are currently facing. Forging this new embodied relationship with yourself will allow you to achieve an overall sense of well-being in yourself, your relationships, and your life.
In addition to somatic approaches, I offer a variety of unique approaches—such as mindfulness, trauma therapy, sandtray therapy, and expressive art approaches— as well as more traditional cognitive-behavioral therapy. Treatment areas I specialize in include: Men’s issues, PTSD and Trauma, Young Adult Issues, Grief, and Life Transitions.
With over 20 years of experience in the mental health and social services field—including 10 years as a clinician—I am confident that your struggles will get better when they are faced head-on. My goal is to help you feel better, provide tools for change, and help you maintain that change. Utilizing customized approaches that are tailored to meet your needs, I will support you in creating a path towards a life of health, wholeness, and well-being.
Who I work with: I am happy to work with you regardless of your sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality, religion, age, race, or disability. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming.
